Cardiologist – Echocardiography, Launceston, Tasmania

The Clinic:
Charles Clinic Heart Care is a rapidly-growing regional cardiology service in Launceston, Tasmania. We are seeking a full time imaging and consulting cardiologist to join our team.

Established 6 years ago, Charles Clinic Heart Care includes 3 full-time cardiologists with post FRACP training in imaging, cardiac devices, and heart failure. Nine visiting consultants provide expertise in angiography and intervention, cardiac electrophysiology, adult congenital heart disease, cardiac MRI, advanced heart failure, and cardiothoracic surgery. We are currently developing a Cardiac Rehabilitation service. Our staff includes 8 cardiac sonographers (all Queensland University of Technology trained) and 2 exercise physiologists/cardiac scientists, within a team of over 30. We have a reputation for high quality cardiac consulting, service innovation, and state of the art equipment. We have access to a new coronary angiography suite at Calvary St Vincent’s Hospital and a new 320 slice CT scanner and regular CMR service at Regional Imaging, Launceston.  We are collaborating with Calvary St Vincent’s Hospital to develop a private Coronary Care Unit. Our services include an extensive, nationally recognized, regional outreach service to the North West and North East regions of Tasmania. We currently receive over 100 new referrals per week. Our purpose built rooms provide a contemporary and professional working environment, with facilities for teleconferencing/ telemedicine and leading practice software integration and data management.

The Role:
We are seeking a cardiologist who has completed a fellowship in echocardiography.  Advanced expertise in transthoracic echo is essential. Skills in stress echo, contrast and 3D echo are important requirements.   Expertise in paediatric echo, congenital echo or other imaging modalities, such as cardiac CT and CMR, would be valuable. Training or experience in a second clinical field that complements our services would be welcome.

The candidate must have a focus on quality diagnostics and consulting, engage in our educational and quality control activities and be amenable to further professional development. They must be enthusiastic, self directed and motivated to support continued development of community-focussed services. High level interpersonal and communication skills and a track record of working harmoniously and collaboratively in a team environment are prerequisites for this role.
