BIOGRAPHY

Dr Matthew Rowe is a Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist, and Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland.

He began his studies with a Bachelor of Science, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Queensland, graduating in 2009. Following his General Medical training he trained in Cardiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2017.

Matthew then undertook a further year of Fellowship training in Pacing and Electrophysiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Following this he spent a further 2 years at the renowned London Health Sciences Centre in Canada focusing on ablation of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia as well as complex cardiac device management.

Matthew has published research articles in Australian and international peer-reviewed medical journals on topics such as physiological pacing, atrial fibrillation and genetically inherited arrhythmias. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at The University of Queensland.

His special interests include heart rhythm disorders, pacemakers and defibrillators, ablation of arrhythmias and genetically inherited cardiac conditions.

Currently, he is employed as a Staff Specialist Electrophysiologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital as well as consulting at the Wesley Medical Centre and performing procedures at The Wesley Hospital.

The session will be delivered via Zoom, comprising a presentation of approximately 50 minutes and 10 minutes Q&A.
