Advanced Trainees in Cardiology, Launceston General Hospital, TAS
Applications are invited for trainees who have successfully completed RACP exams and who are contemplating core training in cardiology in 2019. The Launceston General Hospital is a tertiary referral hospital and it’s Cardiology Department has a busy academic and clinical training program that services a population of 250,000 in Northern Tasmania. It is staffed by seven cardiologists, three of whom perform invasive and interventional procedures and offers a full range of invasive and non invasive services. The position is accredited for a full (three years) core training in cardiology and there are currently two advanced trainees in the Department and one interventional Fellow. Currently, our trainees are completing their required procedural numbers in the first 18 months of training as an indication to the volume of clinical work there is. It is a teaching hospital of the University of Tasmania Medical School and has a full complement of residents, registrars and sub specialities.
