Position Title: Electrophysiology PhD Fellowship

Employment Status: Temp P/T (3.8 hrs p/wk, up to 31/1/2021) – MDP2

Indicative Total Remuneration: $94,749 – $154,146 (pro rata)

Position Summary

Undertaking clinical and basic research in Electrophysiology, you will be offered a concurrent higher degree research degree position (e.g. PhD) position at Flinders University to be supervised by academic staff members in the Department of Cardiac Electrophysiology. The Department has an active research program, with a range of projects available including large animal electrophysiological studies, as well as human clinical research studies in cardiac electrophysiology. You will train in all aspects of the conduct of basic and clinical research projects in cardiac electrophysiology, invasive and non-invasive cardiac electrophysiology ablation, and all aspects of device implantations and follow-up. As part of your role, you will assist with supervising and teaching medical students, postgraduate internal medicine trainees and other staff as specified by the head of the Department of Cardiac Electrophysiology. The Flinders Medical Centre has earned an international reputation as one of Australia’s finest public teaching hospitals and as a centre for research excellence. The hospital is co-located with the Flinders University School of Medicine and the Flinders Private Hospital.

Holding a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, you will be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration and be enrolled in a PhD with Flinders University. You will have FRACP or completion of at least three years of advanced training in Cardiology, demonstrating clinical experience and competence in the practice of medicine. High level skills in problem solving and decision making will be essential, along with the ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary clinical and academic team.
