Position Summary

Applications are invited for the post of an adult cardiologist with a specialist interest in imaging, specifically echocardiography and cardiac CT. This is a replacement post to meet the needs of the strategic expansion of Cardiac Imaging in one of the leading hospitals in Australasia. The successful applicant will join a team of 24 existing cardiologists, including 5 existing imaging consultants with an interest in echo, and other imaging modalities (CMR or CT).  In addition the new post-holder is expected to contribute to the provision of acute care on the cardiology wards, referrals and outpatient clinics.  

Auckland City Hospital is a 700+ bed University teaching hospital which provides secondary health services to the people of the central Auckland area, as well as tertiary cardiothoracic services regionally, and quaternary services nationally.  The Cardiology Dept is the largest public hospital cardiology department in Australasia and offers a full complement of sub-specialties including invasive coronary and structural intervention, electrophysiology and pacing. We provide a national service for cardiac transplant, adult congenital cardiology and congenital cardiac surgery. We provide adult cardiology and cardiac surgery for South Pacific Island patients, in particular Tahiti. Paediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery for New Zealand and the South Pacific is provided at the adjoining Starship Children’s Hospital.
