Position: Senior Cardiac Scientist

Based in outback Queensland’s Mount Isa city this role exercises a high level of independence, leadership, expertise and skill in the delivery and development of cardiac science services within the NWHHS.

What’s on offer?

Permanent full-time role, 76 hrs p.f.

Generous remuneration package comprising:

  • salary range between $112,241 and $120,780 p.a. (HP4)
  • recreational leave loading (17.5%)
  • employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%)
  • Category B Rural and Remote Allowance for Health Practitioners $226.28 p.f.
  • Category B Professional Development Allowance of $2,973 p.a. (paid fortnightly) and up to 3 days p.a. PD leave

The role

You will be part of the team participating in the provision of a tele-cardiac investigation (T-CI) service to the NWHHS, including the delivery of exercise stress testing and Holter monitoring at Mount Isa Hospital.

Your role will also include the provision of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring as referred for at Mount Isa Hospital including the coordination and sign-off of reporting.


Whilst not mandatory, relevant additional qualifications or evidence of considerable professional development in cardiac clinical measurements would be well regarded.

Mandatory requirements are a tertiary degree qualification in science (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline with a strong component of human anatomy and physiology and appropriate associated registration/licences/membership; evidence of these will be required prior to appointment.

Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful candidate; this may include criminal history checks and Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role compliance. VPD risk roles may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Tuberculosis and COVID-19.

A 6-month period of probation may apply.
